About
CIFEC is committed to inspiring all learners to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to equip them for success in a competitive and interconnected world. They encourage all members of our community to be socially responsible and contributing citizens, understanding and respecting our shared values and individual differences.
Curriculum: CIFEC offers BTEC vocational courses at Levels 1-3, which are the equivalent of GCSE (level 2) and A Levels (level 3), offering an effective bridge to university or the world of work. The students choose the level they take based on their prior skills, experience and qualifications. Students can currently choose to study in one of 12 different vocational areas at CIFEC.
Each BTEC programme is matched to an internship with an employer, giving each student a relevant and real life taste of the world of work. Up to 108 employers on the Island are working with CIFEC on this programme. Many BTEC students find that their employment is extended after the internship has finished.
Students are given the opportunity to re-sit Level 2 Maths, English and Science if they did not pass them in High School. BTEC courses on offer include ICT, Beauty Therapy, Hospitality, Health & Social Care, Art, Creative Media, Work Skills, Business, Construction and Sport & Leisure. Also on offer is the IMI Motor Vehicle course. Check https://schools.edu.ky/CIFEC/Pages/Home.aspx for more info.
CIFEC has two apprenticeship programmes. The PWD/CIFEC apprenticeship allows students to gain qualifications through City & Guilds and also acquire skills in construction and various other public works areas such as plumbing and ac maintenance. The Water sports apprenticeship enables students to become certified divers, learn about the local marine life and develop their customer service skills.
