About
As one of the UK's top independent schools for boarding and day pupils, Gordonstoun has been termed as an 'outstanding' and sector-leading' in its most recent inspection and was voted the best boarding school in the UK in 2021. Situated in the north of Scotland, the beautiful and safe 2002-acre woodland campus is in the heart of the Moray countryside, moments from the sea and hills. Despite the peaceful location, the school has great international transport links; only 31 miles from Inverness and 65 miles from Aberdeen airport.

Facilities
As you would expect from one of the UK’s leading private schools, Gordonstoun's comprehensive facilities accommodate rugby, cricket, hockey, football, netball, tennis, squash, athletics, swimming and cross-country running. Students can also play volleyball, basketball, rounders, table tennis and badminton. They can go horse riding, skiing, mountain biking, snowboarding and do both karate and aerobics. As well as their own course (Scotland’s only five hole golf course), there are eight golf courses within half an hour’s drive of the school, two of which are championship links courses.
At Gordonstoun, the facilities also include a sports centre with an indoor climbing wall, a fully equipped strength and conditioning room, a full-sized floodlit hockey Astroturf, a 400 meter running track, an indoor swimming pool, four squash courts and a .22 rifle range.
Extracurricular Activities
Outdoor activity is integral to Gordonstoun life and has three main elements – expeditions, sail training and adventure activities - all designed to help students develop new knowledge and skills, react to challenge and learn about themselves and their classmates. At Gordonstoun, students can take advantage of the stunning Scottish landscape, and try kayaking, mountain biking, orienteering or skiing; or they can try their hand at bushcraft, wilderness survival skills or surfing off the Moray coast’s magnificent beaches.
Every student can build their confidence and ability in a range of competitive and co-operative sports and activities. Students are encouraged at every level of ability, from enthusiastic beginner through to individuals representing their regions or nations.
