The Cayman Islands Public Works Department run a very competitive and highly respected apprenticeship and training programme in various construction trades at their Construction Trades Training Centre (CTTC). Each programme is 52 weeks full-time, and on successfully passing the exams and training, lead to a City and Guilds certification which is internationally recognisable and transferable.

Details:
The PWD Apprenticeship Training Programme (ATP) is open to Caymanians aged 16-29 and each applicant has to sit a skills assessment examination and then undergo an interview. No formal education is required. However, students who are in Year 11 at high school must complete their mandatory Year 12 at CIFEC, or complete some training at UCCI, before they can be submitted to the programme.
The types of potential careers that the ATP leads to includes: Plumbers, Masons, Carpenters, Electricians, Elevator Repairers, Roofers,
AC Technicians, Project Managers, Field Inspectors, Construction Engineers
Foremen and Architects.
To apply for the programme you need to make an online application between May 15-June 15th each year, as the programme is only open once a year. You will need to show proof of your Caymanian citizenship, have a clean police record and clean drug test, and show copies of any qualifications you have to date.
